Some of you may remember Dean as he was a member some time ago. He is a pilot with SEL and SES ratings. Also, Dean is looking for an aerobatic ride for his son. If anyone would like to help this young man experience a loop or roll, please contact me, via this website, and I will forward it to him. Were all looking forward to meeting you Dean! Also, welcome to Locke Easton. Some of you may remember that Locke owned the Maple Ridge Airport in Harrison, Maine. Locke owns a C-150 Aerobat and joined us at our last pancake breakfast. Locke has since moved to Topsfield, MA but still comes to Maine regularly. Welcome Locke! It's good to see you back at Limington airport. Also, welcome to Ira Seskin. Some of you may have seen Ira on early morning weekends flying his powered parachute at the Limington Airport. We look forward to meeting Ira and hear about his chuting adventures. Two more members have joined the ranks! Welcome to Doug Quist and Cliff Benjamin. We all look forward to meeting you at the next EAA 141 meeting! SPECIAL NOTICE: NOTAM - Sanford Airport has changed its Unicom/CTAF frequency to 123.075 effective immediately. (March 26th,2008) Frequency change has been confirmed by Evan McDougal, Sanford Airport Manager. FIRST FLIGHT !! Congratulations to Ed Clegg for the first flight in his newly constructed RV-8. Ed commited aviation twice on Friday, April 11th starting at 8:24 am. The first flight was about 15 minutes long and the second lasted about 45 minutes. Both flights were uneventful and ended with nice landings back at Limington Airport. Ed flew through various airspeeds with and without flaps, stalled in both configurations, and made radio calls to the ground with engine and flight parameters. Post flight discussions and inspections showed no anomalies with engine or airframe. Ed will continue to expand the flight envelope in future flights. A celebration breakfast was enjoyed at "Dad's". Ed's wife, Marilyn, was there to watch the event and made an "I CAN FLY" poster to hang on the prop after Ed landed. Well done Ed! Look for an upcoming article in the 'Members Projects' section on Ed's build. JET EXEC FLYS !! Congratulations to Rex Koller for flying his beautiful Jet Exec Helicopter. A few of us were lucky enough to witness Rex as he masterfully manuevered the Exec up and down the runway in less than ideal conditions. The wind was "blowing a gale", but Rex remained rock solid on the controls and made it look easy. He even landed the ship on it's dolly for transport back to the hanger. Check out the 'Members Projects' section for photos and additional information. Meetings are held the third Thursday of each month at the EAA Hanger and begin at 6:30 pm. Doughnuts and coffee will be served at the meetings. (Bar-B-Q's when weather permits.) Check out the "EAA 141 Events" calender on the left. Events will be added when the schedule is determined. Also, be sure to check out the "EAA Events" link under the 'Resources' link on the left for information about local and distant EAA National events. Simply type in your zip code and distance you want to travel for all the latest EAA aviation events. Our man Rex Koller has come through for us again and was able to locate some beautiful cabinets for the hanger. As you probably remember, Rex got us the heating system and wired it too! The cabinets are now installed in the hanger. Tim Bickford made up a beautiful Douglas Fir countertop that is now in place. Thanks Tim! |
